MODELLING·WHITE DWARF 307

Setting the Scene: Warg Lair

July 2005·p. 96

THE SHORT VERSION

Mat Baxter builds a rocky outcrop on bevelled MDF, cutting and sanding polystyrene before adding gravel and sand. Larger pieces use stacked layers, with the cave hollowed before final attachment to preserve access. Brushed black paint avoids damaging the foam, then mixed and pure greys and a little white pick out the rock. Coarse scatter and static grass soften the result into a Warg lair or Goblin entrance.
