Byrrnoth Grundadrakk begins as an outward-looking royal son interested in merchants and iron ships. After Dark Elf corsairs and the sea dragon Mauldekorr kill his father and brother, he spends more than twenty years hunting the beast. Swallowed during the final confrontation, he cuts his way out and survives with a permanent leg injury. His return brings honour but also a new insistence on ancestral customs and stronger ties with the mountain holds.
