TACTICS·WHITE DWARF 307

Expeditions from the Old World

July 2005·pp. 20–23

THE SHORT VERSION

Brian Folcarelli recommends infantry and flexible detachments for Empire expeditions, noting that quicksand makes exceptionally heavy armour dangerous and Loose Order stops many shooting troops firing. Swordsmen and Free Companies adapt better than Spearmen, while Archers and Huntsmen provide mobile fire. Small knight units, Pistoliers and carefully positioned cannon can still help, but mortars lose value against dispersed targets. A Helblaster offers powerful area defence at the familiar risk of destroying itself.
