Building the Beast
July 2005·pp. 82–87
THE SHORT VERSION
Guy Haley builds the new plastic Carnifex for an exaggeratedly spiky, attacking silhouette, using the kit’s many optional parts rather than a major scratch conversion. He adjusts the torso connection, tests its angle before gluing and chooses a symmetrical spread of spikes. A detailed painting sequence creates naturalistic horn and chitin through browns, pale stripes and ink washes. An accompanying studio tip demonstrates interchangeable weapons using pinned joints or magnets, extending the kit’s usefulness across different configurations.
