Jes reviews Andy Smillie’s account of the Flesh Tearers claiming their homeworld. Battles against gigantic death-world creatures provide the immediate action, but the story’s deeper threat is the Chapter’s own nature and inherited curse. A later framing sequence reinforces the tragedy, so the violence and pace do not obscure the sense that the warriors carry their most dangerous enemy within themselves.
