Visualising 40K
February 2012·p. 9
THE SHORT VERSION
John Blanche explains how ordinary encounters and decaying surroundings become raw material for the atmosphere of the forty-first millennium. Architecture, rust, weather, strange animals and the variety of people matter alongside literary and artistic influences such as Peake, Dickens, Shakespeare, Turner and Rembrandt. His approach seeks evocative character and mood by pushing lived observation into a distant dystopian future, rather than beginning with a catalogue of futuristic machinery.
