PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 386

Army Workshop: Necrons

February 2012·pp. 66–69

THE SHORT VERSION

Chris Peach explains how his Nihilakh collection follows a visual hierarchy, with Warriors forming its broad base, more elaborate elites above them and Overlords at the top. Turquoise, aged silver and gold unify the force, but their balance changes with status: ordinary Warriors look like dirty machinery, while nobles display richer decoration. On the vehicles the turquoise represents weathered stone; on the infantry it becomes smoother painted livery, giving the same palette different material identities.
