Fight Like a Pirate

October 2011·p. 39

THE SHORT VERSION

An angled approach can let a ship fire before boarding while avoiding the enemy’s easy raking shot. Phil Kelly develops that principle into a deadly blockade, placing a fast vessel directly ahead of a target and using Fire As She Bears to punish its forced advance. A disposable auxiliary can perform a related stall, buying time by blocking a much larger enemy’s movement.
