INTERVIEW·WHITE DWARF 370

Phoenix Guard

October 2010·p. 21

THE SHORT VERSION

Mike Anderson describes the Phoenix Guard design shared with Matt Holland and Neil Langdown, drawing on the original full-length armoured coats and Jes Goodwin’s sketches. Negative space between mail and cloaks makes the garments flow naturally, while closed mouths and a drum communicate the guardians’ vow of silence. Flames, ornate banners and heavy armour reinforce their sacred role at Asuryan’s shrine.
