Painting the Shield: Wood Grain and Red Leather
October 2010·p. 77
THE SHORT VERSION
Irregular descending lines, knots and progressively lighter brown accents create the wood grain on the shield’s back. The front is painted as stretched purplish-red leather, with dark recesses, cool pale highlights and carefully defined scuffs. Darren concentrates wear on equipment rather than robes, allowing the prince to look battle-tested while retaining the High Elves’ clean appearance.
