The Colours of Death
July 2010·p. 96
THE SHORT VERSION
The army’s muted blue-grey palette takes its cue from Dave Gallagher’s Vampire Counts cover, leaving the red-armoured lord as the strongest focal point. Bone highlights prevent the Skeleton units from merging into an indistinct mass. The painters test the bases and replace pale dead grass with a darker flock to avoid washing out the models, showing that colour decisions must be assessed across the whole regiment and army.
