Painting the Units: Men of the Riddermark
April 2010·p. 98
THE SHORT VERSION
Duncan begins the force with black undercoat and a sprayed brown base, then uses flat Foundation colours and a combined brown-black wash. Basic foot warriors stop there, riders receive additional highlights and command models gain still more colour and detail. Notes made while painting the prototype preserve the mixes, allowing the method to scale across a large army without pretending that every photographed base colour is specified in print.
