Army Workshop: Painting the Swarm
January 2010·pp. 90–95
THE SHORT VERSION
Chad Mierzwa builds a Tyranid collection around models he enjoys, then develops a cold grey scheme that works in both jungle and urban settings. Selected dynamic poses and scenic bases give the horde variety without making every creature theatrical. Stored batches of mixed paint keep the army consistent, while mottled chitin, warmer soft tissue, glossy claws and rusty base details add contrasting textures and focal points.
