Painting the Armour and Metal

January 2010·p. 82

THE SHORT VERSION

Blue-black armour receives cool grey edge highlights, while the plasma pistol’s casing uses grey and bone for a warmer black. Boltgun Metal is shaded with black and diluted purple before a silver edge restores definition. The explanation shows how two apparently black surfaces can remain distinct and how changing the wash could make similar metallic recipes suit dirty Orks or green-tinted Necrons.
