Citadel Hall of Fame: Aly Morrison’s Favourite Miniature
February 2009·pp. 94–95
THE SHORT VERSION
Aly Morrison nominates Colin Grayson’s Bretonnian Grail Reliquae for translating Dave Gallagher’s bizarre concept into a convincing three-dimensional composition. Pilgrims carrying a dead knight form the silhouette of a horse, with a bit, horseshoes and carefully angled sword reinforcing the illusion. Aly sees both comedy and darkness in the piece and recommends studying its details as painting inspiration; a gallery adds Grayson’s Helstorm Rocket Battery and Thunderfire Cannon.
