PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 347

Painting the Back Banner

November 2008·p. 98

THE SHORT VERSION

The sculpted banner is painted from rear layers towards the front so later work covers accidental splashes. Cream rises from Charadon Granite through bone to white, while a restrained brown-and-white sequence imitates gold thread on the central aquila. Its highlights follow the banner design rather than simply reproducing metallic reflections. Blue and red sections reuse the established armour and cloak methods to keep the whole miniature coherent.
