Selective Drybrushing: Dwarf Ranger

May 2007·p. 84

THE SHORT VERSION

The Ranger’s cloak is finished before the surrounding details, allowing broad brushwork without damaging completed areas. A dark grey base receives two progressively lighter passes, followed by an earthy edge to suggest dirt and travel wear. The sequence demonstrates how controlled drybrushing can describe both the material’s folds and the character’s experience on the road.
