PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 314

Weathering Madril and Painting Stubble

February 2006·p. 51

THE SHORT VERSION

Thin Bestial Brown and Snakebite Leather washes build dirt at Madril’s cloak hem, then Vomit Brown and increasingly pale additions suggest accumulated wear and fraying. The layers become more selective as they brighten, finishing with white at the edge. A separate mixture of Shadow Grey, Bestial Brown and black is diluted into repeated face washes to represent stubble. Both effects distinguish a campaigning Ranger from a freshly equipped soldier.
