Choosing Your Runes Army

February 2006·pp. 66–67

THE SHORT VERSION

Gav recommends establishing an army’s intended strategy before designing its rune items. Characters, standards and artillery should reinforce shared strengths or offset weaknesses, with roughly a tenth of the army’s points serving as a flexible brake on overspending. A sample force demonstrates the distribution, and a Battle Standard can carry effects into units that normally lack them. Its placement must still preserve ordinary Break-test coverage rather than becoming solely a delivery system for magical bonuses.
