The Gatehouse, Doorways and Gates

February 2006·pp. 45–47

THE SHORT VERSION

The gatehouse is built from its internal passage outward so the tunnel aligns cleanly with the front and rear openings. Tower doorways are recessed by removing only one card layer and its foam, leaving the rear surface intact. Scored balsa imitates wooden planks, thin card becomes metal banding and a pin supplies the handle. These details turn simple boxes into a coherent, usable fortification.
