The Defence of Cephian IV
November 2005·pp. 30–49
THE SHORT VERSION
Graham McNeill commands Black Templars against Adam Troke’s evolving coalition of Dark Eldar, mutants, traitors and Alpha Legion Marines. The opening escort ends in lost recruits, but Graham wins the relic-recovery battle through disciplined objective play and a timely Terminator intervention. The deciding siege uses a fortress built for the codex and rewards leaders for personally slaying their counterparts.
Adam destroys several tower weapons early and his Rogue Psyker annihilates the Sword Brethren, yet the surviving Templar characters strike back. Marquand kills the psyker and then a Defiler, while the Marshal and Chaplain cut through the attackers. The Templars win 1,635 to 786 after seven turns, and both players credit the memorable story while identifying target selection, expensive retinues and withheld aggression as lessons.
