Retala and the Fallen Treeman

THE SHORT VERSION

After the battle, Retala surveys the forest’s dead and wounded with little concern for the defeated intruders but a sober awareness of Elven losses. She senses Athel Loren returning to the grove and knows that new growth will eventually cover the ruined ground. Before leaving, a faint green light from the fallen Treeman catches her attention: she recognises that its life is returning, softening the cost of victory.
