A High Command staff can include several types of specialist aide. Staff Officers progressively provide scanners, artillery scatter control and Reserve rerolls, while a Master Astropath counters hostile psychic powers. Scribes inspire counterattacks, a batman can absorb the commander’s wound, Sages improve shooting and a Pastor makes the group stubborn. Their combined effects reward assembling a command organisation rather than simply maximizing the officer’s personal combat equipment.
