Modelling Craters

July 2005·p. 138

THE SHORT VERSION

Small rings of mixed Green Stuff are pressed onto the base and blended into natural raised rims with a sculpting tool. Once cured, a black undercoat unifies the surface before successive Bestial Brown, Snakebite Leather and Bleached Bone drybrushes reveal the texture. The miniature craters demonstrate how modelling putty normally used for gaps or sculpted details can establish a distinctive ground surface for an entire unit.
