Building a Corsair Ship

June 2005·pp. 115–117

THE SHORT VERSION

Mark Gregory develops a Corsair vessel from a measured paper plan and a temporary cardboard-and-foamboard frame held with tape. After checking the shape, he glues and planks the hull, adds a rudder and suggests a ramming prow with foil-covered card plates. Balsa trim disguises rough portholes and joins; masts, sails and rigging complete the ship. He stresses matching planks on both sides and limiting rigging so figures can still move around the deck.
