THE SHORT VERSION

Pirazzo’s abandoned expedition survives Lizardman attacks by combining a crossbow front rank with deep pikes, eventually receiving a strange opportunity to escape with supplies and treasure. The rules preserve that mixed formation, protecting the shooters behind surviving pikemen and giving the pikes their strongest effects against frontal attacks by charging cavalry and monsters.
