Heroes of the West: Pippin

November 2003·p. 132

THE SHORT VERSION

Pippin’s Gondorian armour uses darkened metal with a black ink wash, then restored metallic layers and highlights. His cloak is handled separately with a green-black-grey mixture, progressively lightened only on its folds and edges. The contrast between polished armour and muted cloth helps the small Hobbit read clearly among taller soldiers without requiring an unrelated bright colour.
