Courage and Honour
August 2003·pp. 54–57
THE SHORT VERSION
Matt Keefe traces the Ultramarines’ naval organisation through the Codex Astartes and the defence of Ultramar. The article explains why a Space Marine fleet is primarily an assault and transport force, then shows how the Tyranid incursions exposed the weaknesses of rigid doctrine and encouraged cooperation with the Imperial Navy. Worlds, shipyards and named vessels place the fleet within its wider political and military setting.
The rules section presents the rebuilt battle barge Seditio Opprimere as a long-range gunship, trading part of its landing capacity for powerful lance batteries. Modelling guidance describes the weapon changes required to represent it, while notes on strike cruisers and other battle barges provide context for an Ultramarines collection.
