INTERVIEW·WHITE DWARF 515

Designers’ Notes: Saturnine

August 2025·pp. 66–75

THE SHORT VERSION

The designers behind the new Age of Darkness set explain how its Isstvan V theme informed Saturnine Terminators, a Saturnine Praetor and Dreadnought, MkII Legionaries, a Centurion and the Araknae weapons platform. The huge Saturnine shoulder silhouette remains a link to early Terminator imagery, while reactors, thermal systems and energy weapons make the new designs feel like rare technological peaks.

Close-up commentary examines posing options, interchangeable details, armour construction and the distinctly archaic disintegrator family. A short design history follows the broad-shouldered Terminator through early White Dwarf appearances and later Horus Heresy references, showing how scattered older imagery fed the modern models.
