THE SHORT VERSION

Sergi joins the front of a Megatrakk Scrapjet to the rear of a Deffkilla Wartrike, removing the original wing stubs to strengthen the racing-car outline. A simple dirty-bone finish uses Agrax Earthshade over Wraithbone, followed by Abaddon Black scuffed on with a sponge. The restricted changes show how a clear silhouette can carry a conversion without excessive extra parts.

Recreating Fred Reed’s Howling Griffons

Models of the Month: Thorin’s Company

Dave Barker-Hurden builds Thorin’s Company for the Out of the Frying Pan scenario, surrounding the dwarfs with sculpted burning pinecones. He cuts detail into small putty cones and pulls fresh putty into flames with tweezers, then uses his first airbrushed firelight to connect the models to the scene. Hunter Orcs are planned as their opponents.
