Recreating Fred Reed’s Howling Griffons

THE SHORT VERSION

Jonny Watson recreates the Howling Griffons collection that inspired him in White Dwarf 180 in 1994. He sources old metal Marines, reproduces the quartered yellow-and-red heraldry and banners, and builds terrain and a painted scenic backdrop to echo the original photographs; Fred Reed’s response to the project completes the connection between two generations of hobbyists.
