The opening Legions Imperialis mission delays heavier detachments in reserve while the advance elements contest neutral objectives and try to remove enemy formations. The winner establishes a beachhead represented in the next, larger-scale Age of Darkness battle by free defence lines and a potential anti-aircraft emplacement.

Suffer No Rivals

Each commander nominates two experienced units as Priority Targets, making their destruction far more valuable than ordinary objective control at the battle’s end. Markers remain held after troops move away, but protected target units cannot simply disappear into reserve, producing a hunt in which screening important units and cornering the enemy matter greatly.
