THE SHORT VERSION

In the fifth Ancestor’s Burden instalment, Rigo leads five damaged companions towards Karak Thorga after sending the other rescued duardin away. Each traveller reassesses the old obligations they have abandoned, while Justec recognises memories of an earlier life and hopes returning the stolen horn can change his fate. The cursed hold attacks Rigo with collapsing ancestor statues, and the companions’ different skills save one another at its gate.

Inside, a possessed Borgni Daltheim reveals that he has murdered fellow adventurers and intends to carry the hold’s grievances back into the realms. Myrddi kills him, but the malign spirits still threaten to bind the duardin to endless retribution. Rigo shields the others, is recognised as Grombrindal and fades into snow after urging them to reject bitter oaths and bring peace to the wound at the hold’s heart.

Gnarlroot Colours
