Jes Bickham’s Tyranids: Painting Carapace

January 2013·p. 116

THE SHORT VERSION

The carapace method mirrors Jes’s skin layering but makes each highlight narrower to suggest striated natural armour. Rhinox Hide is followed by Mournfang Brown, XV-88 and Zamesi Desert, leaving the dark base visible between the brighter marks. The brown-to-ochre progression creates a warm shell that contrasts with the green flesh while keeping repeated organisms visually consistent.
