Thorin’s Company: Character Colour Guide
December 2012·pp. 104–106
THE SHORT VERSION
The character charts give starting palettes for all thirteen Dwarves, Bilbo, Gandalf and the limited-edition Radagast. Grey robes distinguish Gandalf, Thorin uses dark blue and leather, and Bilbo’s green waistcoat and red jacket contrast with the earthy browns of Radagast. The Dwarves retain individual combinations: Dwalin’s green clothing, Balin and Dori’s red coats, Fili and Kili’s dark leather and Oin and Nori’s greys keep the company varied without abandoning a shared muted style.
Ori’s brown coat and pale trim, Bifur’s yellow-brown clothing, Bofur’s warm armour and Bombur’s green shirt complete the line-up. A short beard note recommends a basecoat followed by a careful drybrushed highlight to reveal strands and braids. The source explicitly calls these basic colour selections rather than comprehensive recipes; the index includes every paint named in the charts without guessing the additional shades or highlights used on the finished models.
