Jeremy Vetock: Finding New Opponents
November 2012·pp. 102–103
THE SHORT VERSION
When his usual gaming friends become unavailable, Jeremy visits local stores and confronts the awkwardness of entering an established group of strangers. Once armies reach the table, shared enthusiasm quickly replaces that discomfort. He reflects on adjusting his exuberant, narrative style to opponents who prefer a straighter contest, and finds that seeking games outside his familiar circle produces new friendships as well as battles.
