’Eavy Metal: Tomb Kings

May 2011·pp. 88–93

THE SHORT VERSION

Joe Tomaszewski explains the team’s aim to depict ancient splendour rather than the grime of other undead. Burnished gold, muted red, pale bone and neutral blue support intricate hieroglyphs, varied shields and differently coloured stone constructs. Anja Wettergren’s Warsphinx and Joe’s Necrosphinx receive elaborate marble finishes, while real ancient weapons provide reference for verdigris and careful material contrasts keep the army richly varied.
