Painting a Desert Realm of Battle Gameboard
May 2011·p. 56
THE SHORT VERSION
The eight-stage board method establishes a brown foundation before separately developing grey-brown rocks, yellow sand and dark skull pits. Uneven overbrushing avoids a uniform surface, then pale mixtures unify the sand and exposed stone through weathering. The pits receive progressively brighter brown, bone and white skulls above black recesses, retaining contrast within an otherwise sun-bleached desert.
