The Colours of Chaos
October 2010·p. 100
THE SHORT VERSION
Chad gives the desecrated monuments a chalky sandstone finish through a brown foundation and progressively paler overbrushing and drybrushing. Dark scorch marks and dried blood then stand out sharply against the stone, while rust tones age the razorwire wrapped around the statue. Blinding the monument with wire also gives the physical conversion a symbolic meaning within the scene.
