PAINTING·WHITE DWARF 363

Banners: Dark Angels Banner

March 2010·pp. 102–103

THE SHORT VERSION

Joe Tomaszewski assembles a Deathwing banner in successive layers, beginning with boundaries, flame and checks before adding the halo, lightning, wings, skulls and scroll. A cloaked figure and reflective sword complete the image, with thin keylines preserving legibility between adjoining shapes. Lettering starts in the middle of the scroll and is strengthened only after the spacing is correct, making the demanding design a sequence of smaller decisions.
