Keylines and Trim: Space Marine Cloaks
March 2010·p. 101
THE SHORT VERSION
Keith Robertson builds repeating cloak borders from regular dots, chevrons and overlapping zigzags. A simple line becomes a row of cross-like shapes, while a second pattern gains an interwoven appearance from dark separation and carefully placed shading. Finished robes by Anja Wettergren and Darren Latham show how the same planning principles can expand into lettering or a celestial illustration on a larger cloth surface.
