Giants: Large Areas
February 2010·p. 100
THE SHORT VERSION
A darker flesh foundation suits the Giant’s broad, relatively open facial surfaces. Many thin highlights progressively lighten the skin without harsh lines, while red and blue washes suggest anger or intoxication around the central features. The twelve-stage sequence ends with carefully restricted pale accents and completed eyes and teeth, demonstrating why a larger painting area requires finer control rather than a larger brush and heavier highlight.
