Painting Cloth
February 2010·p. 79
THE SHORT VERSION
Joe Tomaszewski compares smooth blending with deliberate line highlighting on the same green cloak. Both begin from a shaded dark green, but one uses many gradual layers while the other relies on a few carefully placed marks at ridges and intersecting folds. The comparison makes clear that colour milestones do not prescribe identical brushwork, and that highlight placement remains essential even when the transitions are soft.
