Painting the Metal and Blue Trim
October 2008·p. 91
THE SHORT VERSION
A blue-black mixture is raised through progressively larger amounts of Bleached Bone to provide restrained contrast against Elrond’s grey robes. The sword separates steel and gold: dark metallic bases receive black or brown washes, then cleaner metallic layers and silver highlights. Planning the relationship between costume colours keeps the miniature readable even when the overall palette is deliberately quiet.
