SHOWCASE·WHITE DWARF 344

Dark Art of War

August 2008·pp. 24–25

THE SHORT VERSION

Paul Dainton’s battle paintings set Cold One Knights against Bretonnian cavalry and Black Guard against Sword Masters, using matched opponents to convey the Dark Elves’ elite menace. Alex Boyd’s army vista moves from a foreground phalanx towards towers and a distant Hydra. The selected images emphasise military organisation as well as brutality, giving the new army book a visual language extending beyond individual miniatures.
