Painting the Barren Wasteland
August 2008·p. 99
THE SHORT VERSION
Sand-covered ground is painted black before selected areas receive blue-grey drybrushing. The remaining black regions are worked up through Graveyard Earth and a grey mixture, creating interlocking patches of cool ash and warmer dust. A final Fortress Grey pass ties the disparate colours together. The sequence makes a large board varied enough to look natural while maintaining a consistent Mordor appearance.
