Painting a Skeleton Warrior

March 2008·p. 32

THE SHORT VERSION

Brown foundation colour gives the bones depth before successive pale layers pick out the raised surfaces. Armour begins as dark steel and receives the same brown-and-black ink wash, followed by brighter metal highlights. A final thin green wash makes the equipment appear corroded. Treating the bones and armour together establishes a quick, unified process suitable for the many warriors an undead regiment requires.
