Drybrushing Fur and Cloth

May 2007·p. 83

THE SHORT VERSION

A brown-furred creature receives progressively paler drybrushing followed by a darker wash around the creases. A black-robed figure instead starts directly from its undercoat, building grey texture before an ink wash reduces the chalky effect. The paired examples show how the same technique changes with the intended material and how final shading can preserve depth after broad highlights.
