Painting Workshop: Drybrushing
May 2007·pp. 82–85
THE SHORT VERSION
The workshop distinguishes true drybrushing from overbrushing and shows how very little paint should remain before the brush touches the model. Successive passes reveal textured fur, cloth and armour, with washes restoring depth or reducing a chalky appearance. Selective work is completed before surrounding details so stray paint causes less damage; feathers and flat tank panels require particular attention to stroke direction and subtlety.
