Warhammer Tactica, Part 2: Deployment

December 2006·pp. 82–87

THE SHORT VERSION

Phil Kelly and Ant Reynolds argue that deployment can create a decisive advantage before the first turn. Cheap units can conceal an army’s real intentions, valuable troops benefit from terrain and careful character placement, and hill positions improve shooting. Diagrammed corner defences, refused flanks and strong centres demonstrate competing plans; the final discussion adapts them for small elite armies and Vampire Counts, whose dependence on their General constrains how far units can spread.
